WELCOME TO GOWINGS

With a proud history, Gowings is a company with a strong sense of tradition that is founded on the legacy of an Australian family of pioneers.

Five generations have successfully managed the business since John Ellis Gowing, great grandfather of current CEO John Gowing, relocated halfway around the world. More than 156 years ago. To create a trade outpost in Sydney Cove.

Taking inspiration from this rich history, Gowing Pacific Trader was established to showcase our brands.

Today Gowings operates out of a regional outpost. Trading near and far. Headquartered in the Gowings Building in the coastal town of Coffs Harbour. A central location. It is ideally situated, on the mid-north coast of New South Wales, Australia.

With over 150 years of experience, we have learned from our successes and setbacks. Our day-to-day operations are directed by Gowing’s family values.

Taking care of shareholders’ money is as important to us as taking care of our own. We invest our money side-by-side with our shareholders to build a prosperous future for all.

By investing in the future of the people we serve, Gowings has been enriching people’s lives since 1868.

We remain adventurous and curious about the future.

Gowings is a listed family office. We believe in investing for the long term with an inter-generational horizon.

Our investment portfolio has consistently outperformed the index and delivered regular dividends for shareholders. Since its inception in 1953 by
Ted Gowing.

This continues today with John Gowing, an experienced and successful Australian investor. John was fortunate to work alongside his father Ted for over 15 years to learn the tricks of the trade.

Ted has some simple principles, one of which was: not to focus on trying to buy at the bottom or sell at the top. Always look for long term value.

John is now fortunate to be working with his three sons, Ellis, James and Byron, the fifth generation of the Gowings family and custodians of the future.

John Gowing is the longest-serving CEO of a public company in Australia. He delivers Gowing’s shareholders with a carefully curated selection of goods, services, and bricks-and-mortar investments.

We offer Australia’s most eclectic investment range: from retail properties including shopping centres; commercial real estate and residential development; a global surf company; water sports innovation; fishing equipment; iconic Australian brands; and food security (Tasmanian farms).

This has made us sought after. If you’d like further information or to invest alongside the Gowings family, please use the contact us form.

‘Investing together for a secure future’
– John Gowing
